New Delhi, NFAPost: NITI Aayog launched the National Data & Analytics Platform (NDAP) for open public use. The platform aims to democratize access to public government data by making data accessible, interoperable, interactive, and available on a user-friendly platform.
Currently, NDAP hosts 203 datasets based on use-cases and expert advice, interoperable with each other, and easy to download and use. NDAP also has in-built tools to search, merge, and visualise datasets.
While launching the platform, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery said the main value that NDAP adds is making key foundational datasets interoperable with each other.
“National Data and Analytics Platform aims to democratise access to government data. This will enable easy cross-sectoral analysis and democratise the use of Indian government data,” said NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery.
NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery also pointed out that the struggle for data transparency has been a long journey.
“The launch of NDAP is, in some ways, the culmination of trying to make data more broadly accessible. Data in a democracy is a very important part of accountability,” said NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery.
NDAP will add to and update the existing data on the platform and the platform features will also be updated based on user feedback.
Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said that NDAP is an attempt to create a data-driven ecosystem that recognises data as a key strategic asset.
“The government needs data more than ever, especially in the post Covid-19 pandemic world. NITIAayog’s National Data and Analytics Platform is an attempt to create a data-driven ecosystem that recognises data as a key strategic asset,” said Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.
Commenting on the initiative, NITIAayog Senior Adviser Anna Roy said that government data is invaluable for effective and efficient decision-making.
“The National Data and Analytics Platform (#NDAP) will help solve existing data use-cases by improving last-mile delivery of government data,” said NITIAayog Senior Adviser Anna Roy.
According to Arvian Research, NDAP as a platform will host foundational data sets from various government agencies and will present them coherently for use by researchers and academicians.
“Data enables organisations to identify the source of problems more effectively. It allows organisations to visualise relationships between what is happening in various locations, departments and systems,” states Arvian Research.
Arvian Research also pointed out that NDAP users can create flexible tables and virtualisation for efficient analysis using the platforms inbuilt virtualisation tools.
Dynamic virtualisation will be generated by user search terms. NDAP as a platform is designed and optimised to meet the needs of policy makers, bureaucrats, innovators, data scientists, journalists and citizens.
