Ather Energy opens a new experience centre at Guindy, its 4th retail store in the state
Ather Energy’s 27th experience centre in India and second in Chennai
Chennai, NFAPost: India, leading electric scooter brand Ather Energy, inaugurated its second retail outlet, Ather Space in Chennai at Guindy.
Catering to the growing demand largely from south Chennai, the new experience centre at Guindy will retail the Ather 450X, India’s fastest electric scooter, along with the Ather 450 Plus.
With two retail outlets in Chennai and one each in Trichy and Coimbatore, Ather Energy has grown its presence in Tamil Nadu to four outlets in the last 5 months.
Ather Energy has seen a strong surge in demand in the last few months as its latest scooter, the 450X, has been received extremely well by customers.
The new Ather Space is designed to educate customers about electric vehicles while providing a holistic experience in an interactive space. Ather Space is well equipped to provide a unique ownership experience along with complete service and support for the owners. Consumers can also book test ride slots on Ather Energy’s website before visiting the experience center.
Speaking on the occasion, Ather Energy CEO & Cofounder Tarun Mehta said Chennai was the second market in which we opened an experience centre, and the city’s response has been encouraging since then.
“The number of test rides and bookings have surged significantly driving us to open our second outlet in the south to better serve our potential consumers. We will continue to see a trend of consumers shifting from petrol to electric scooters across the country, and we expect to open more experience centres in Chennai and across other cities,” said Ather Energy CEO & Cofounder Tarun Mehta.

The Ather 450X is the best and most awarded electric scooter available in the country today. Ather Energy designs and builds high-performance and truly intelligent electric scooters that are on par, if not better than the 125cc petrol scooters on the market. The cost of ownership for an Ather Energy vehicle is lower than its petrol counterparts over the long term.
The ex-showroom price post the Fame II revision for the Ather 450X is INR. 146,296 & INR 127,286 for the Ather 450 Plus in Chennai. Considering the total cost of ownership of a comparable 125cc scooter, Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus owners can now breakeven their investment in 18-24 months and will begin to save nearly Rs. 2 per km in the years after.
The Tamil Nadu government was one of the earliest to introduce EV policies to drive faster adoption and manufacturing of electric vehicles. Ather Energy commenced its operations in Chennai in 2019 and built one of the biggest experience centres at Wallace Gardens.
In the same year, Ather Energy signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu for a 400,000 sq.ft. facility in Hosur, which began operation in 2020. Later, Ather Energy began retail operations in Coimbatore in 2021 and is now looking at expanding into other cities in the state
Ather Energy plans to strengthen its retail operations by expanding to new markets. The company plans to expand to 42 cities with 50 experience centres by March 2022 and to 150+ experience centres by March 2023. It has also invested heavily in the charging infrastructure to provide a holistic experience to the rider community.
Ather Energy already has 27 charging points in Chennai and plans to add 10-12 charging points to strengthen the charging network to provide smooth and stress-free rides for EV owners in Chennai. Ather Energy also helps customers with setting up home charging solutions in their apartments and buildings.

The Ather 450X is one of the quickest and the smartest scooters in its category and comes in four colours: Grey, Green, and White along with the limited-edition Series 1. The scooter is powered with a 6kW PMSM motor, a 2.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, and comes with 4 riding modes.The Eco Mode offers a True Range of 75 km with a 50 kmph top speed, in the Ride mode one can ride for an average 65 km at a top speed of 60kmph and the Sport Mode offers higher acceleration with a top speed of 80kmph and True Range of 55 kms.

The 17.78 cm (7”) touchscreen dashboard, comes with a colour depth of 16M and a Snapdragon Quad-Core processor. Ather 450X utilizes Android Open Source to offer Google Map navigation, on-board diagnostics, and other unique features like Over-the-air updates, Auto Indicator off, and Guide-me-home lights.
