New Delhi, NFAPost: Realising the importance of growing opportunities in India’s communication space, RailTel Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) to work together in several areas to help expand telecom in the country.
Both RailTel and C-DoT will focus on rationalizing the tech and equipment of communication networks across the country. For the unaware, RailTel works under the Ministry of Railways while the C-DoT is a research centre that operates under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw handles both the Ministry of Railways as well as the Department of Telecommunications.
According to the statement given by RailTel CMD Puneet Chawla, the synergy between C-DOT and RailTel will help in providing affordable broadband services to the masses in the rural areas by lowering the cost of equipment since all this will be ‘make in India’ using C-DOT’s home-grown technology.
RailTel has become aggressive in its market operation as the company was successfully listed on Indian bourses, and continued to deliver a strong financial and operational performance. The IPO during the month of February 2021 issued 87,153,369 shares and RailTel received an overwhelming response from investors as the issue was oversubscribed 42.42 times.
According to Arvian Research, the accelerated digitalisation of businesses owing to Covid-19 opened up a plethora of opportunities for RailTel.
“It is a reality that the company plans to focus on emerging areas such as internet of things (IoT)-, machine learning (ML)- and artificial intelligence (AI)-based services to drive future growth. It is a realisation that there is a huge opportunities for the company with the advent of Digital India initiatives and India is going for massive infrastructure averhaul with the advent of 5G,” said Arvian Research.
RailTel Chairman and Managing Director Puneet Chawla made it very clear that the objective of working together in the diverse areas of telecom with key focus on the modernisation and expansion of communication Networks across the country.
The relation with C-DOT will help with company to avail the C-DOT designed various cutting edge Telecom technologies spanning Switching, Optical, Wireless, Network Management & Security Domains and innovative solutions that are successfully deployed in national networks including those of strategic importance.
RailTel’s retail broadband service RailWire is a collaborative broadband delivery platform in partnership with local cable operators and broadband content providers. According to Arvian Research RailWire is receved an overwhelming response in the market as there is huge demand for home broadband post the outbreak of the pandemic in April 2020.
