Karnataka Startups keen to offer solutions to UAE in sectors ranging from logistics to healthcare
Dubai, NFAPost: Keeping in mind to set up the proposed ‘Banglore Design District’, Karnataka Minister for Electronics, IT/Bt, and S&T C N Ashwatha Narayana visited the d3 (Dubai Design District) on Sunday, along with senior officials among others during his visit at the Dubai Expo.
The Design District project is proposed by ISDC (International Skill Development Corporation) and Jain university in association with the World Design Council, UK.
Dubai Design District (d3) established in 2013 is a space where the world of design, art, and fashion co-exist, where new perspectives are provided and a change of the ordinary to the extraordinary is made possible.
Speaking after visiting the facility, C N Ashwatha Narayana said d3 enables disruptive thinking to create a world of endless possibilities through beautifully designed spaces and unique community offerings.
“Taking inspiration from d3, the Government of Karnataka has the objective of setting up a design district to an extent of 100-150 acres in Bengaluru. Along with this the government also wants to organize ‘Banglore Design Festival’ as the world’s largest design festival,” said C N Ashwatha Narayana.
The IT/BT Minister further said Bengaluru Design District will be a global outsourcing destination for various design domains.
“It will be a creatively stimulating environment that will keep creators, makers, and designers in one place. It will benefit Corporates design centers, Media & Advertising Companies, Product / Service Design companies, Design Startups, Digital design companies among others,” said C N Ashwatha Narayana.
Besides the Minister, the Karnataka delegation was also accompanied by IT Director C.N.Meena Nagaraj. The Minister was also had Arun Suraj Director Digital ISDC, Ivan A Fernandes, Managing Director Regent Technologies, Sathar Al Karan, Founder of ArtUAE visited Dubai Design District and Al Serkal Avenue, Dubai to explore the Design, Art and technology ecosystem in Dubai for the establishment of the same in Bengaluru.
Majid Almari, CEO of Real Estate registration and services Dubai Land Department, Govt of Dubai received the minister and had a discussion for future collaborations pertaining to various initiatives.

“Karnataka being a hub of startups in India is keen to offer ground-breaking solutions to private companies and government organizations of UAE in various sectors ranging from logistics to infrastructure, oil-and-gas to environment and waste management to healthcare,” said C N Ashwatha Narayana.
Addressing the Inauguration Ceremony of 3 days event ‘World Dubai Expo 2020’ he said some of the sectors in the UAE that are witnessing the massive presence of Indian, especially Bengaluru based start-ups and tech majors.

“Karnakata government which is playing the role of a facilitator has been undertaking all tech-focused initiatives in line with achieving the vision set by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India reach the 5 trillion dollar economy by 2025. Shared economic visions and geopolitical outlooks have spurred the two sides (Karnatka and UAE) to seek to expand cooperation across multiple domains including in investment, technology, and the knowledge economy,” said C N Ashwatha Narayana.
Karnataka is one of the prosperous states in India with an estimated GSDP of $220 billion and has been a leader in sectors of Information Technology, Information Technology enabled Services, Electronics, Machine Tools, Aerospace, and Biotechnology, he pointed out.
Further, the Minister added that Karnataka has a robust Startup which includes MNCs/ GCCs, incubators, and accelerators. Besides the State is home to premier higher education institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), and several others.
“The state has sector-specific policies for IT, BT, Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM), Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) in order to give a push to the growth of the technology sectors and innovation in the State,” said C N Ashwatha Narayana.
The Minister also said Karnataka is a leading global innovation hub due to partnerships established with innovation hubs such as UAE. “The government of Karnataka is interested to strengthen its relationship with the UAE on common grounds of innovation and technology. I also thank UAE for hosting Indian Premier League matches,” said C N Ashwatha Narayana.
