Women To Power Global EV Revolution At Hosur Factory; First batch of women employees inducted to the factory.
Bhavish Aggarwal-led Ola Electric has roped in 10,00 women employees at the company’s all-women-led two-wheeler manufacturing plant, Ola Futurefactory, located in Hosur district in Tamil Nadu.
Commenting on the company’s novel initiative to avail women employees, Ola Group CEO and Chairman Bhavish Aggarwal said we are proud to announce that Ola Futurefactory will be run entirely by women.
“We welcomed the first batch this week and at full capacity, Futurefactory will employ over 10,000 women, making it the world’s largest women-only factory and the only all-women automotive manufacturing facility globally,” he said.
“We have invested significantly to train and up skill them in core manufacturing skills and they will be responsible for the entire production of every vehicle manufactured at Ola Futurefactory,” said Aggarwal added.
Enabling women with economic opportunities improves not just their lives but that of their families and indeed the whole community. Studies show that just providing women parity in the labour workforce can grow India’s GDP by 27%.
“But this requires active and conscious efforts from all of us, especially in manufacturing where participation remains the lowest at just 12%. For India to be the world’s manufacturing hub, we must prioritize upskilling and generating employment for our women workforce,” he said.
Overjoyed by her induction to the factory, one of the women employees said she is becoming part of a big revolution happening across the globe and that is led from Hosur, India.
Another employee said she joined Ola to create a revolution. “I feel so proud that this is the future of our company and our country. We will build the best scooters in the world,” said a newly inducted woman employee.
Ola Futurefactory is one step towards the company’s vision of the world’s future – a world with clean mobility, a carbon-negative footprint, and an inclusive workforce. “We will continue to take steps that get us closer to achieving each of these across Ola and encourage others to join us so we can accelerate India’s progress,” said Aggarwal.
Ola Group CEO and Chairman Bhavish Aggarwal launched Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro escooters in India last month. Bhavish Aggarwal states the S1 e-scooters will cost Rs 99,999 and the S1 Pro will retail for Rs 1,29,999.
