OpenText has announced the launch of the award-winning Carbonite Endpoint backup solution in India, with the added option for businesses to securely backup their data into a local vault to meet data sovereignty requirements.
Carbonite Endpoint also provides businesses a cost-effective way to meet the demands of a distributed workforce without impacting bandwidth performance, a release said.
It expands the portfolio of disaster recovery (DR), server, backup and migration solutions allowing users to receive continuous access to data and critical assets with endless protection and uptime.

The Ericsson Mobility report named India as the second largest consumer of Internet, which inevitably attracts a substantial increase in ransomware and other internet-related cyberattacks.
Key findings taken from the 2021 Webroot BrightCloud Threat Report showed 6 countries including India accounted for half of the top 50k malicious IP addresses used largely for Windows exploits, spam, scanners and botnet.
Although the average number of malicious IPs decreased globally from 2020 to 2021, India saw a 28% YoY increase from 6.65% to 8.5% malicious IP convictions.
“Over the past six months we have seen an increase in customers wishing to back up their endpoints with clean restores. These are important measures against cyber events particularly in the wake of the Personal Data Protection Bill,” said Carbonite + Webroot India Senior Sales Manager Roshan Dsouza.

The launch of the vault in India marks the third vault in the APAC region, followed by Australia and Singapore. In APAC, Carbonite’s channel spans across 14 countries and more than 2,000 managed service providers.
