New Delhi, NFAPost: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shunted out 12 ministers during his first cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday evening. Narendra Modi inducted 15 cabinet ministers and 28 ministers of state.
According to political analysts, Prime Minister’s effort is viewed as an effort to reshape his governance strategy by including young faces and various sections of society. Since he assumed charge for a second term in May 2019, the current reshuffle also highlighted his decision to reward performers.
It is interesting to note that seven junior ministers have been promoted as Cabinet ministers. President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new members in the Darbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhawan. While 13 members took oath in Hindi, the other two took in English.
The prominent among the twelve ministers who have resigned from the Modi government include Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar. He also sought the resignation from Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Chemical and Fertiliser Minister Sadananda Gowda and Labour and Employment Minister Santosh Gangwar.
