Immersive audio platform and podcast content creation company, Sochcast Media, has acquired Podcash, a marketplace for podcasters, advertisers and guests to create a full stack audio suite to listen, create, publish and monetise on a single platform.
Sochcast, launched in August 2020, by the Co-founders of Radiowalla, an in-store audio
network, provides listeners with unique content across genres – Lifestyle, Education, Wellness, Society & Culture, stories, poetry and self-help in multiple languages including Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati and Sanskrit, a release said.
Podcash, now an entity of Sochcast, was announced on International Podcasting day last year, by podcast host, Garima Surana and marketer Ronit Roy, aims to create an all in one data driven marketplace that eases podcast discovery and promotes growth of the podcasters by connecting them to the right collaborators and advertisers.
Sochcast CEO Anil Srivatsa said, “The acquisition of Podcash and the induction of Garima and Ronit into the Sochcast team, will attract independent sochcasters who have been waiting long for someone to help them monetise their content in a single place completing the cycle of creating, market discovery, distribution and consumption all in one place. This will be good for brand custodians as they will be able to access brand fit content in one place.”
“Sochcast is a revenue generating company and with Podcash, we can rapidly scale our engagement with Brands or Media Agencies, help them connect with content creators and in the process enable content creators to start monetising their content,” Sochcast co-founder Harvinderjit Singh Bhatia.
Sochcast is also building new revenue streams like Subscription and Sachet pricing to further enhance opportunities for content creators to earn.
Podcash founders Ronit and Garima said, “The alliance between Sochcast and Podcash will be a futuristic move in the podcasting landscape of India. We are on the cusp of change
– with audio becoming an integral part of our lives and with over 60 years of experience that Anil and Harry bring in content and channelising revenue through audio, we will be able to build the first ever Made in India fullstack audio suite for indie audio creators.”
They added that the big podcasting focuses on content acquisition through originals.
Currently there are over 57.6 million podcast listeners and average time spent on podcasts is 1 hour 8 minutes (Data from GWI). With the industry growing at a 34.5 CAGR, India is set to become the biggest market of non-music audio in the coming years making this an industry that is worth over $3.3 billion globally by 2025, report by Deloitte says.
With Sochcast’s extensive library of 13,000 minutes of original content, this partnership will aid existing Sochcasters and new podcasters, who will host their show on the Sochcast app, to get access to advertisers and monetise their show through the unique self-serve podcast-brand fit approach of Podcash, the release added.
Garima Surana now joins Sochcast as a Co-founder and Chief Business Officer at the company.
