Online food delivery partner Zomato launched a new priority service on its app on Wednesday. This feature enables customers to check out food orders exclusive for Covid-19 emergencies.
Zomato announced the launch of this new feature via Twitter as its founder Deepak Goyal revealed the details on Wednesday night.
“Today, along with thousands of our restaurant partners, we just rolled out a “priority delivery for covid emergencies” feature on the Zomato app. This feature will allow our customers to mark—This order is related to a COVID-19 emergency—option during checkout,” Goyal said.
When you enable this feature at check out, it will send a priority request to Zomato’s restaurant partner. The order will then be prioritised ahead of the regular ones, besides providing a dedicated customer support on all such special orders.
“At Zomato, we will prioritise these orders by providing fastest rider assignment, and dedicated customer support in case of queries. Thousands of restaurants have pledged to prioritise these orders in their kitchen above all others,” he said.
Zomato has also clarified that all such special deliveries for Covid-affected customers will be contact-less by default. This will ensure safety of its riders while also avoiding the viral spread to subsequent customers, the company noted.
Goyal emphasised that all Zomato customers should opt in for contact-less deliveries right now, given the rapid surge in Covid-19 cases currently in India. He also thanked the chain of restaurant partners “for joining hands to serve our customers.”
Meanwhile, Zomato has requested its users via Twitter to refrain from misusing the feature as it is meant for emergency purpose only.
