Flipkart has just announced the extension of its hyperlocal and express delivery service to six Indian cities including Delhi, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Noida, Hyderabad and Pune. The express service aka ‘Flipkart Quick’ promises to deliver daily essentials including Covid-19 drugs, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, grocery, dairy, electronics and baby care products within the stipulated time of 90 minutes.
Flipkart Quick will soon be extended to other cities like Kolkata and Mumbai in a phased manner, according to the latest release. Bengaluru witnessed the debut launch of Flipkart’s hyperlocal delivery service last year, which enabled wider availability of products with faster delivery times when ordered from nearby Flipkart hubs in the location.
The company has successfully deployed its last-mile delivery system with the help of its strategic and logistic partners, Ninjacart and Shadowfax. This has enabled Flipkart to create a well-structured end-to-end ecosystem for delivering fresh essential items on a daily basis.
Highlighting the recent development, Sandeep Karwa, Vice-President at Flipkart, said that hyperlocal capabilities are invaluable in enhancing the online shopping experience for consumers and boosting supply chain operations.
“It is important to explore ecosystem partnerships to strengthen such capabilities and accelerate faster, reliable deliveries to customers. Flipkart is a customer-centric organisation, and we remain committed to creating solutions that will not only deliver greater value to our customers but also boost local farmers and suppliers,” he added in a release.
Flipkart Quick allows customers to enjoy their favourite local delicacies at affordable market prices along with the added benefit of free delivery on all orders worth more than Rs 499. Furthermore, buyers may also schedule a convenient delivery time between 6am and midnight.
The homegrown ecommerce company faces stiff competition in the hyperlocal delivery services from established rivals like Swiggy, Zomato and Amazon alongside others like Groffers and BigBasket.
