Online gaming and esports platform Mobile Premier League (MPL) has signed a three-year title sponsorship deal with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and aims to get seven crore users in India in less than three years.
The firm expects to reach 10 crore user base by the end of IPL 14.
MPL is expecting to add around three crore users during this season of IPL.
To achieve this target, the firm will be spending more than last year in terms of marketing.
In fact, MPL’s marketing expenses reportedly have increased from Rs 29.62 crore in FY19 to Rs 137.67 crore in FY20.
MPL, which is close to becoming a unicorn, will also launch a new feature which will enable the customers to opt for a single subscription pass to enjoy multiple games.
The firm had done a pilot last year.
Last year, the company became KKR’s principal sponsor.
MPL also had bagged the principal sponsorship right for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The firm received good visibility last year when it had tied up with KKR, Co-Founder and CEO Sai Srinivas said.
The company did digital player meets which were well received by their customers.
“The sheer number of KKR fans is a number large enough to drive visibility for a young brand like MPL,” said Srinivas.
