Mumbai, NFAPost: Tata Motors Chairman N Chandrasekaran clarified that there’s “no dialogue” with Elon Musk-led Tesla for a partnership in India.
“We will do it on our own,” N Chandrasekaran added while speaking of the company’s plans for the electric vehicle (EV) segment.
In January, a tweet by Tata Motors Electric Mobility had sparked rumours of a tie-up with Tesla for electric vehicles.
“The products under Tata Motors and JLR have been ‘performing well’, and there is no need for any partnership at present. There is no dialogue with Tesla. With us, there is nothing,” N Chandrasekaran.
Chandrasekaran told ToI, mentioning the aggressive plans of Tata Motors and its British luxury unit Jaguar and Land Rover in the electric vehicle (EV) segment. He went on to add that products under Tata Motors and JLR have been “performing well”, and there is no need for any partnership at present.
Last month, there was a buzz that American EV manufacturers may pick Tata Motors for its much-awaited India foray set the homegrown stock soaring on the exchanges.
But Tata Motors stocks had also soared because of the robust performance of the automaker’s car business in India.
