Bengaluru, NFAPost: Bosch Home Appliances will invest €100 million over the next 3-4 years towards personalising solutions, brand building, strengthening its technology centre and UX studies, and setting up a robust refrigerator factory to bring its best-in-class German technology in India and magnifying India’s role globally.
In the coming years, Bosch will majorly focus on connectivity with its IoT based product solutions, strengthen its entry-level portfolio, introduce relevant global products and new digital business models for customer value (D2C). These initiatives will increase new employment opportunities in the space.
India’s household appliances market is expected to grow at 14.5% annually (CAGR 2018-2022), resulting in a market volume of $2,028 million by 2022 Bosch India expects its business in this sector to grow significantly over the coming years.
Innovations
In line with this insight, Bosch has steadily expanded its product portfolio, with a major focus on localized offerings and India-first innovations built with the highest quality of German engineering.
Commenting on the company’s new initiatives, BSH Household Appliances MD and CEO Neeraj Bahl stated the pandemic has induced the need to own good quality technology which add convenience and hygiene to everyday chores at home.
“Growth of the dishwashers’ category is a good case in point. We would like to maintain our premium brand imagery and want to remain the consumers’ first choice, backed by Innovation and technology as our key pillars at BSH Household Appliances and we are constantly working towards simplifying the day-to-day lives of consumers by reinventing and regionalizing solutions and accessories including branded detergents for washing machines and dishwashers,” said Neeraj Bahl.
He also said the company will increase its dominance in the cooking appliance segment by introducing newer product categories in both freestanding and built-in range.
BSH’s localised offerings
Mixer grinder – TrueMixx mixer grinder to grind dry masalas and retain the flavour and consistency of ingredients and authentic recipes through its ‘Stone Pounding’ technology. It is a combination of a high-torque copper motor with a uniquely designed thick-edged blunt pounding blade and an active flow breaker for high performance grinding. On its launch, it was the only product in the category which had a 1000W motor.
Top-loader washing machine – Launched in early 2018 to cater to the localized segment that prefers soft washing to maintain fabric quality.
It is based on the ‘No Damage’ philosophy to make life stress-free and simple, with no compromise on quality or performance. This entire range has been a success for the company, Bosch is now looking at introducing more and more models under the same. The company is also looking at setting up our own manufacturing capabilities in India for this range.
