Bengaluru, NFAPost: Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) has showcased a couple of new products named ‘Dishani’ and ‘Garudastra’ at the Aero India 2021 which was held in Bengaluru for three days (Feb 3 – 5).
CMD of BDL, Commodore Siddharth Mishra (Retd), has revealed two new products to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during a ceremony at the Aero India show in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Garudastra, an advanced anti-submarine self-guided (homing) torpedo and Dishani – an expendable air-deployed ASW sonobuoy system, were unveiled at the event. The former is being co-developed by NSTL (DRDO) and BDL while NPOL (DRDO) is working on the latter in association with BDL.
The display event took place in the esteemed presence of Ministry of Defence, Chief of the Indian Army and Navy, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, Secretary (Defence Production), Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman (DRDO), alongside Air Office Maintenance and other dignitaries.
During the Aero India 2021 event, BDL has signed up Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a slew of Indian and foreign firms including Naval Group, Rafael Advanced Defence System Ltd (Naval Division), L&T MBDA Missile Systems Ltd, Thales (UK), Roxel (France), STE (Ukraine), EMGO (Bulgaria), Bharat Forge Ltd, Dhruva Space Pvt Ltd. and Skyroot Aerospace Pvt Ltd. among others.
Speaking on the occasion of the Aerospace India show, Commodore Siddarth Mishra (Retd.) had this to say: “BDL, as a part of its Global Outreach, is endeavouring to forge an alliance with foreign companies. In addition to forging an alliance with domestic Companies, BDL is also encouraging start-up companies to participate in its innovation programmes which would synergize their innovative ideas with BDL’s capabilities, infrastructure, and long and rich experience in the field of manufacturing and develop new products for the Armed Forces utilizing emerging technologies.”
