Bengaluru, NFAPost: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), India’s telecom regulator, has allowed additional time of 30 days for complying with its latest directive of making changes to tariff communication structure on operators’ websites, apps, customer care centres, point of sale and retail outlets.
According to the regulation on tariff publication released by Trai last month telecom companies were supposed to produce a compliance report within 15 days.
TRAI had said telcos must ensure all communications relating to special tariff vouchers (STVs), combo vouchers (CVs) and add-on packs include details of the quantum and rates applicable of telecom products such as voice units, data and text messages along with usage allowances of non-telecom products (in case of bundled offers) and the charges applicable beyond the entitled levels of usage.
However, The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), which represents Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel, had submitted that since the changes are required to be made on the websites and apps which require due IT design and support, it is taking additional time for completion.
Thus, Trai has granted time till November 2. Trai has mandated telcos to submit a compliance report within 15 days and a self-certificate of providing all communications at the end of each quarter this fiscal
