Hyderabad, NFAPost: The Indian Premier League fever has gripped the nation and it has made every sports lover hooked on to the TV sets with gripping matches.
Not being left far behind, CRED, the official partner for the IPL 2020, has joined in the celebrations by giving ita members an opportunity to associate with a worthy cause.
Apart from supporting their favorite teams and players, CRED members can support talented young children, who lack the access to resources to hone their sporting acumen.
As part of the CRED Missions platform, CRED has tied up with Sports Coaching Foundation (via GiveIndia) to sponsor 2 lakh cricket classes for over 5,000 students of 300 government schools across states.
Training sessions
Through this, CRED members can play a part in shaping India’s next cricket legend by sponsoring training sessions for promising sportspeople from less fortunate backgrounds.
Sports Coaching Foundation partners with government schools across the country to train children in multiple sports including cricket so as to identify and enable talent.
Till date, the foundation has connected with over 1 lakh vulnerable children and youth in more than 300 government institutions under its flagship project named “Build India through sports.”
CRED Missions are thoughtful and timely initiatives undertaken by CRED and its member community to support various topical causes. Prior to this, members had supported over 3 lakh frontline professionals across India in the battle against COVID-19 by donating surgical masks to them.
Make a difference
The effort aided in providing protection to these workers at primary health centres (PHCs), the first line of defense for vulnerable sections of society, including pharmacists, MHWs, and ASHA workers.
Talking about the thought process behind the initiative CRED’s Growth and Engagement Lead, Trupthi Shetty, said, “The CRED Community comprises members that are capable of making a difference to those who need it. With timely and thoughtful initiatives, we make it easier for our members to contribute in an easy and trustworthy manner.
“Cricket is a beloved sport in the country, and we want to offer a level playing field to children who have the potential to reach great heights but lack access to the basic necessities to grow and showcase their talent. When the CRED community comes together for a cause, the impact created is significant, and we want to do our part, however small,” Shetty added.
Build talent
Speaking about this cause on behalf of the Sports Coaching Foundation, Founding Secretary, Kammela Saibaba, said, “We have been focused on improving accessibility to sports facilities and encouraging participation from the underprivileged. From young children to young adults, this cause aims at developing and honing talent that would usually go unnoticed.
By partnering with platforms like CRED these vulnerable children get a chance at enrolling in the project – “Build India through Sports”. We are happy that CRED recognized the importance of giving these children a chance to train and work on building their talent. This could also increase awareness about the project and what we do which is important to ensure continued support for these children,” Saibaba added.
