- Initiates partnership with Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL)
Hyderabad, NFAPost: Uber announced the launch of its Public Transport feature in Hyderabad, in partnership with the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and L&T Metro, making it the second Indian city where riders will be able to plan their transit journey with real-time information and end-to-end directions, all within the Uber app.
After successfully launching Public Transport in association with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in October 2019, Uber’s current association with HMRL and L&T Metro will allow riders to plan their commute by reviewing HMRL and Telangana State Road Transport Corporations’ (TSRTC) bus service information.

Users will also have the option of customizing their journey by opting for ridesharing modes to help with first/last mile connectivity.

Transit operators
Since 2019, Uber Transit Journey Planning has been introduced in more than 15 cities around the world in partnership with leading transit operators including the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in India to integrate the city’s Metro and public bus service and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the United States.
Uber has integrated Transport for London (TfL) information in London, UK to provide real time London tube and bus schedules, as well as train, tram, shuttle, river boat, light rail, and commuter rail service for Greater London and in Nice, France to provide late-night connecting service to rail lines.
Uber’s mission is to create opportunity through movement. We started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get access to a ride at the touch of a button? More than 15 billion trips later, we’re building products to get people closer to where they want to be. By changing how people, food, and things move through cities, Uber is a platform that opens up the world to new possibilities.
HMRL is a PSU of the government of Telangana for providing safe, reliable & world class public transportation in Hyderabad which will facilitate the city’s transformation as a competitive global city with high quality of life. It has implemented the Hyderabad Metro Rail project which is the world’s largest metro project in PPP mode & is pioneering many other initiatives.
