Amritsar, NFAPost: The week ended September 5 saw 23 homegrown startups raise funding, of which 20 received a total sum of about $566 million.
Edtech startup Unacademy was the highest grosser with a funding of about $150 million, followed by Eruditus that raised $113 million.
Funding details for three of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.
Summary of deals closed
Unacademy: In a fresh round of funding led by Softbank, this edtech startup raised $150 million at a staggering valuation of $1.45 billion.
Existing investors Facebook, General Atlantic, Sequoia Capital India, Nexus Venture Partners and Blume Ventures also participated in this funding round.
Eruditus: Executive courses offering online education platform Eruditus raised $113 million in a Series D funding round led by Naspers and Leeds Illuminate Global Fund.
The funding round also saw participation from Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Ved Capital Evergreen Private Equity, and Sequoia Capital.
Livspace: Home interior design and renovation platform Livspace secured $90 million in its Series D round funding led by Switzerland-based investment company Kharis Capital and Nicholas Cater’s Venturi Partners, an investment firm that targets growth investments in consumer space in India and Southeast Asia.
The funding round also saw participation from existing investors Ingka Investments, TPG Growth, Goldman Sachs, UC-RNT, and Bessemer Ventures.
Zomato: The foodtech unicorn has raised around $62 million from Singapore’s state-owned investment arm Temasek Holdings’ MacRitchie Investments.
Gaana: Music and podcast streaming platform Gaana has secured $50 million in a fresh round of funding led by existing investor Tencent along with participation from Times Internet.
Dunzo: In the first tranche of its ongoing Series E round of funding, hyperlocal logistics platform Dunzo has raised $28 million in a new funding round led by Google International LLC and Lightstone Fund S.A.
WinZO Games : In a Series B funding round led by Makers Fund and New York-based Courtside Ventures, vernacular real money gaming platform WinZO Games has raised $18 million.
Entropik: The startup that is based on artificial intelligence to track consumers’ emotional response has secured $8 million in its Series A funding round led by Alpha Wave Incubation.
The funding round for Entropik also saw participation from existing investors.
HomeLane: Online home interior design startup HomeLane has raised $8 million in a bridge funding round led by Stride Ventures.
Existing backers Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners, Evolvence India, and JSW Ventures also participated in the funding round, which is a mix of debt and equity.
Apna.co: Recruitment platform India’s grey and blue-collar workers, Apna.co has raised $8 million in a Series A funding round led by existing investors Lightspeed India and Sequoia Capital India.
Greenoaks Capital and Rocketship.vc have also joined the funding round.
Mfine: As part of its ongoing Series B funding round, on-demand healthcare services platform Mfine has raised $5.3 million.
The funding round was led by Caretech Pte Inc, an entity owned by Mfine’s co-founders and others.
SenseHawk: Solar software startup SenseHawk Inc., has raised $5.1 million in fresh capital as part of its extended Series A funding round led by Alpha Wave Incubation, a $300 million single-LP venture fund anchored by Abu Dhabi’s state entity ADQ and managed by co-founder of New York-based Falcon Edge Capital.
The investment round also saw participation from its SenseHawk’s existing backer SAIF Partners.
Koye: PremjiInvest-backed Koye Pharmaceuticals has raised $4.11 million in debt capital from non-banking financial company BlackSoil Capital Ltd.
Ultraviolette Automotive: As part of its ongoing Series B round of funding, electric vehicle startup Ultraviolette Automotive has secured $4 million from TVS Motor Company.
Post this investment, the leading two- and three-wheeler manufacturer’s stake in the startup has increased to 29.48% from 25.76%.
boAt: Mumbai-based startup Imagine Marketing Ltd that makes consumer electronics products under the ‘boAt’ brand, has raised $3.43 million in debt funding from InnoVen Capital.
Quintype: In a Series A funding round led by IIFL AMC, Saas-based digital publishing startup Quintype has raised $3.25 million.
Bikayi: Hyderabad-based WhatsApp integrated e-commerce platform Bikayi has secured $2 million in a seed funding round from a clutch of international investors including Mantis Ventures, Y Combinator, Pioneer Fund, amongst other notable angels.
Aibono: Artificial intelligence-powered fresh food aggregation platform Aibono has secured $2 million in fresh capital from Rebright Partners, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Venture Capital and Lesing Artha.
Trulymadly: In a pre-Series A funding round, dating platform Trulymadly has raised $1.10 million from AngelList, Inflection Point (IP) Ventures and The Chennai Angels.
Railofy: Data Science-driven travel protection startup Railofy has raised $900,000 million in its seed funding round from Chiratae Ventures.
