Amritsar, NFAPost: Information Technology giant Tata Consultancy Services conducted its annual Fit4life initiative virtually this year in view of the Covid-19 pandemic situation and lockdown.
The company as part of Fit4life initiative organised a first-of-its-kind virtual running event ‘Run as #OneTCS’ on the occasion of Global Running Day on June 3.
As part of the event, over 50,000 TCS associates from across the world pledged for a run, walk, ride or do cardio workout, indoor or outdoors based on social distancing norms.
TCS said that the physical Global Running Day events may be paused due to the pandemic situation, but it was important that everyone remained active in a safe and responsible manner.
The Fit4life initiative by TCS focuses on empowering its associates to take charge of their own health, become better, happier, and a more productive workforce.
“The objective of the initiative seems more important than ever right now as we all are turning towards taking up physical activities to help release anxiety, stress, gain perspective and keep up the wellbeing during these challenging times,” TCS said.
The company associates together pledged to cover over 128,000 kilometers through #OneTCS virtual event.
“At TCS, we have made fitness a top priority. During these prevailing times, focus on self and family health is vital and if utmost importance. In the new normal we might be separated by a pandemic, but today we run as #OneTCS,” said Milind Lakkad, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer at TCS.
This year, the company has also partnered with professional fitness training firm Striders Miles to train its employees and their family across its branches through an online platform in order to develop a fitness regime and improve employees’ daily lifestyles and inculcate daily habits.
