Much to the happiness of Indian IT veterans, Cognizant CEO Brian Humphries announced the appointment of Ramkumar Ramamoorthy as Chairman and Managing Director, Cognizant India and named him Head of India Operations.
Known for his hard work, Ramkumar Ramamoorthy has been with Cognizant India for more than 21-years. He helped Cognizant India to be delivery engine of growth and efficiency. With more than 200,000 talented workers, Cognizant India is the epicentre of global delivery, solutioning, and innovation. Besides playing a key role in developing the company’s India-based portfolios including Marketing and Communications, Market Research and Intelligence, Public Affairs, and Knowledge Management, Ramkumar Ramamoorthy was instrumental in heading the activation of Cognizant corporate purpose through the work of Cognizant Foundation and Cognizant Outreach.
In a note sent to Cognizant associates worldwide, Brian Humphries stated he is pleased to announce the appointment of Ramkumar Ramamoorthy to Chairman and Managing Director, Cognizant India, reporting directly to the company’s Executive Committee.
“Ramkumar has worked closely with a range of stakeholders—not only associates, clients, and partners, but also investors, industry analysts, journalists, diplomats, politicians, and education leaders. As a result, he’s become known to chambers of commerce, universities, the media, government agencies, and key policy-making bodies as the highly regarded external face of Cognizant, representing our culture, values, and brand,” he said.
Ramkumar will be establishing both a Management Committee and an Operating Committee for India. These committees will help us further strengthen operations in the country, proactively advance our agenda as we engage with the media and government, drive greater diversity and inclusion throughout the organization. As the new Head of India Operations, Ramkumar will have all of the country’s location heads and corporate function leaders as dotted-line reports.
Brian Humphries said India is a prized asset of Cognizant. “I have two scheduled visits there in the next three months and expect the Executive Committee to make ongoing visits to India. In coming quarters, we plan to extend our outreach and engagement with the Indian media and government institutions. I look forward to working more closely with Ramkumar and ensuring that Cognizant’s standing is positioned appropriately in all circles as we reestablish our company’s momentum, ” said Brian Humphries.
